Get Hitched In Style With Sohi's Jewellery Sets
It’s been a hectic wedding season in Bollywood. Two of Bollywood’s reigning divas tied the knot within months of each other. Yes we are talking about the weddings of Katrina Kaif with actor Vicki Kaushal, and Alia Bhatt with actor Ranbir Kapoor. In between, we also saw the gorgeous but unconventional wedding of actor-director Farhan Akhtar with anchor & singer Shibani Dandekar in the month of February.
While the Vik-Kat wedding was held in full regal fashion at Fort Barwara in Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan, Akhtar and Shibani kept things simple with a farmhouse wedding devoid of religious ceremonies, and Alia-Ranbir took private and low-key to another level by hosting their April wedding at Ranbir’s home in Mumbai.
What was common across all three weddings was the complete absence of a big bash with tons of celebrity guests. It seems Bollywood stars are setting the trend of inviting only family and close friends to their nuptials, and later releasing carefully curated pictures on social media for their eager fans. Of course, Covid-19 could have played a role in limiting the guest-list, but if this trend is here to stay then we have no complaints because a wedding is an intimate and emotional time and it makes sense to celebrate it with those who can truly share the joy.
In terms of bridal dressing, these three weddings turned up completely different styles.
Alia Bhatt wore an ivory saree embroidered with golden thread. She kept her makeup light, and left her hair open, which is virtually unseen among Indian brides. Being the youth-icon and trend-setter that she is, we are sure that Alia will inspire legions of her fans to replicate this simple but timeless and beautiful bridal look.
Shibani Dandekar and Farhan Akhtar are not exactly known to conform to any fixed norms. Like the easygoing and free-flowing souls they are, their wedding too was a laid-back affair minus any ceremonies. True to her personality, Shibani chose a stunning red corset and fitted skirt with a dramatic veil for the wedding, followed by a very delicate pastel peach embroidered saree for the reception.
Out of these three brides, Katrina Kaif stuck to the classic North Indian bridal look with her exquisite red lehenga, looking absolutely stunning and regal.
It’s impossible to pick whose bridal style was the best because each look was stunning in itself. But our team at Sohi also cheered for these ladies’ jewellery choices. Whether they were going traditional or new-age, each of these blushing brides chose heavy jewellery sets to complement their looks.
Katrina went all-out in her royal bridal attire with a heavy necklace, dangling earrings, a nathni and maang teeka, and of course, the Punjabi chooda along with kaleere. Shibani kept her wedding look very simple with just a pair of large drop earrings and no other piece of jewellery, but she wore a heavy kundan necklace plus matching large earrings at the reception, minus the maang teeka that’s usually favoured by brides. And Alia Bhatt chose to complete her relatively simple bridal saree with a very heavy kundan necklace, earrings and maang teeka that left us all in awe of her style.
Inspired by these leading ladies, our team at Sohi picked out some of our best jewellery sets to suit every taste.
